2003-2004 - PEACESAT Technical Options Study (TOS)

PEACESAT Technical Options Study (TOS)

DESCRIPTION: The PEACESAT Technical Options Study will review the feasibility of a wide range of potential solutions from the use of the NOAA’s next generation dual-axis satellites, other available weather or experimental satellites to the use of commercial satellites and fiber infrastructures. The panel of technical experts will meet with user groups, key telecommunication industry leaders, study the feasibility of the options and produce a final report with recommendations. It is anticipated that this report will provide a firm plan and technical solution for the PEACESAT Network. Following the completion of this project PEACESAT will seek funds, from appropriate funding sources, to support the implementation of the final recommendations.

This activity is in part sponsored by the Sasakawa Pacific Island Nation Fund through the University of Guam.

FUNDING ORGANIZATION: Sasakawa Pacific Island Nations Fund

PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATORS: Norman H. Okamura, Christina Higa
